Free URL to QR Code Converter
A URL to QR code converter takes any web address and encodes it as a 2D pixel pattern that can be scanned by any modern smartphone camera. The result is a permanent, scannable image that links straight to your URL — no app needed, no typing, no copy-paste. Our free URL to QR code generator does this in your browser, so we never see what URL you are converting. The QR code you download is yours, with no watermark, no signup, and no chance of being “disabled” later by some company.
Static URL QR Codes Work Forever
We only make static QR codes. The URL is encoded directly into the pixel pattern, which means: (1) the QR code never expires, (2) it does not depend on our servers, (3) we cannot disable it, (4) you can use it commercially with no restrictions. Other URL to QR code services often default to dynamic QR codes that route through their servers — which sounds convenient until you realize it is also how they charge you a subscription forever.
Use Cases for URL QR Codes
The most common reasons people convert URLs to QR codes: getting customers from a printed surface to a website, sharing a long URL with someone in person without typing it, putting a link on a video so viewers can scan it, including a URL on packaging or signage, adding a link to a slide deck, putting a website on a business card, sharing a Google Form for surveys, or making a payment link easy to scan.
URL to QR Code FAQ
How do I convert a URL to a QR code?
Copy any URL — from a browser, a document, a chat message, anywhere. Paste it into the URL to QR code converter on this page and click Generate. Your QR code is created instantly. Click Download PNG to save it. The QR code points directly to that URL forever.
What types of URLs can I convert?
Any valid URL works. That includes website URLs (https://...), shortened URLs (bit.ly, youtu.be, forms.gle, wa.me, paypal.me, g.page, maps.app.goo.gl), URLs with parameters (?utm_source=...), URLs with anchors (#section), and URLs to specific files (PDFs, images, documents). If it works in a browser, it works as a QR code.
Is there a length limit on the URL?
Technically QR codes can encode up to ~2,953 characters, but very long URLs make the QR code denser and harder to scan from a distance. For URLs longer than ~300 characters, you may want to use a URL shortener (bit.ly, your own domain redirect, etc.) before converting to a QR code. Shorter URLs make cleaner, easier-to-scan QR codes.
Is the URL to QR code conversion really free?
Yes. 100% free, with no signup. The conversion happens entirely in your browser, so we never even see your URL. There is no Pro plan, no trial period, no upgrade prompt. The QR code you download is yours to use anywhere — including commercially.
Will the QR code still work if I lose the URL?
The QR code encodes the URL directly into the pixel pattern, so the QR code is essentially a backup of the URL. If you scan it, you get the URL back. You can also right-click the downloaded PNG and inspect it with any QR code reader to see what URL is encoded.
Will the QR code expire?
No. The QR code is static — it encodes your URL directly. There is no third-party server in the middle, so there is nothing that can expire. The QR code keeps working as long as the URL it points to keeps working.
Can I convert a URL to a QR code that I can edit later?
Static QR codes (what we make) cannot be edited after creation, because the URL is baked into the pixel pattern. If you need an editable QR code, you have two options: (1) put a redirect on your own domain and convert THAT URL to a QR code (then you can change where the redirect points), or (2) use a paid dynamic QR code service. Most users do not need this — a static QR code that links to a permanent URL is simpler and cheaper.
Can I convert multiple URLs to QR codes at once?
Yes — use our free Bulk QR Code Generator. Paste a list of URLs, one per line, and download all the QR codes at once as a ZIP file.
